Awards: Best of Show - $1000, 2nd Place - $500, 3rd Place - $300
Entry Fee: $20 per Portrait, Entrant must submit three works of portraits one of which must be a self-portrait. The juror will select five finalists January 9, 202l, who will compete in a four hour virtual competition of a single sitter on February 4, 2021. The Juror, John Mulvany, will award the winner the $1000 prize and the BAA will present the winner with a virtual exhibit starting February 5, 2021. The second place winner will receive $500 and 3rd place will be $300. The Competition can be viewed on Facebook and YouTube
Eligibility : National, 18 years or above. All work must be original, not done under supervision and not be a copy of a published work. Works must be suitable for display to young students.
Size: A virtual Competition, but works should be no larger than 48” in the longest dimensions
or no smaller than 8” x 10”.
Media: All 2D Media, except digital and photography.
Entry Platform: All entry submissions must be done through entrythingy.com portal below. No exceptions.
The BAA encourages unique work’s demonstrating originality and attentive execution. Portraits and figurative works are invited. Entering the exhibit includes permitting us to use your images for virtual exhibit or publicity purposes.

MEET OUR JUROR!
-John Mulvany-
John Mulvany is an artist and art educator originally from Ireland who has been living and working in Austin for twenty years. He has taught art for twenty-five years and is the studio art teacher at Headwaters School in Austin. He graduated from the College of Art, Design and Print in Dublin, Ireland with a fine art degree and also has a degree in art and design education from the Crawford College of Art in Cork, Ireland. In 2009, he was featured in the Texas Biennial and nominated as best artist by the Austin Visual Arts Association. Among the galleries where he has exhibited his work are grayDUCK gallery, The Dougherty Arts Center in Austin, Texas Lutheran University, and Galleri Urbane in Marfa, TX. His two most recent exhibitions were Secure the Perimeter at grayDUCK Gallery in 2019 and The Pattern Days, an online exhibition in 2020. Mulvany lives in East Austin with his wife, Monique, and his two sons.
